Let’s first look at a few texts from the Bible that illustrate how God understands life before birth. Referring to John the Baptist, an angel prophesied, “For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even […]
Wasn’t the seventh-day Sabbath instituted at Sinai for the Jews?
On the seventh and last day of Creation, nearly 2,000 years before the first Jew, God instituted a perpetual weekly day of rest and worship for all humanity—Sabbath: “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on […]
What did the apostle Paul mean when he encouraged the believers in Thessalonica to “Pray without ceasing”? I Thes. 5:17. Here’s how we can understand his instruction. Prayer is really a conversation with God. But our conversation with God should go two ways. We shouldn’t be doing all the talking. We also need to listen […]
1. The entire prophecy covers a period of seventy prophetic weeks (490 years). There is no example in Scripture of a stated time period starting, stopping, and then starting again. All biblical references to time are consecutive: 40 days and 40 nights (Gen. 7:4), 400 years in Egypt (Gen. 15:13), 70 years of captivity (Dan. […]
The Bible has two definitions of sin. The first is, “Sin is the transgression of the law,” or put another way, “sin is lawlessness.” 1 John 3:4. The law here is God’s moral law, based on His own character of unselfish love and concern for others. It is expressed succinctly in the Ten Commandments. Exod. […]
There’s good historical evidence that Jesus lived on Earth over 2,000 years ago. Like some other ancient religious leaders, He still has millions of followers today, but unlike them, He’s still alive and we can personally know Him. He didn’t just leave instructions like the others. Jesus told us, “‘I am the way, the truth, […]
Jesus, the divine Creator, carried out a wonderful self-sacrificing work for us on Earth 2,000 years ago. And He’s still working for us individually in heaven. All His work on our behalf prepares the way for us to receive forgiveness and eternal life. Yet His work also needs to change us. That requires communication with […]
Cannabis has long enjoyed a folksy image as a “natural substance” untouched by the greed of Big Pharma profits. Over the last several decades in the US, its use for a variety of medical conditions has skyrocketed. These conditions include anxiety, depression, pain, nausea, epilepsy, insomnia, and inflammatory bowel disease. The terms cannabis, marijuana, and […]
During the Babylonian captivity, God gave the prophet Ezekiel a vision of a cleansed and restored temple with specific dimensions and detailed instructions. See Ezekiel chapters 40–46. The exiled Jews later returned and rebuilt their temple, but it was not this temple. This has led dispensationalists to believe that Ezekiel’s temple will be literally built […]
In Revelation chapter 7, an angel comes from the east having the seal of God. “And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, ‘Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants […]
