What is the secret of a happy marriage? It is largely the understanding of the difference between the principle of love and the feeling of love. For instance, God didn’t feel like giving His beloved Son to save us sinners—but He did it anyway. The angels didn’t feel like letting Jesus go, but they did. Jesus didn’t feel like leaving heaven to live in this dark world of sin, but He did.
We see the same thing in love on earth. Fathers don’t always feel like working to feed their loved ones, and mothers don’t always feel like taking care of them, but they do it anyway, because love is a principle.
