A Lizard’s Tale

Lizards can teach us a great lesson about freedom from sin.

Did you know that lizards are often caught by their tail, but they escape by detaching the tail from the center of their backbone? The tail keeps wriggling, fooling an attacker into thinking it has caught its prey. Meanwhile, the lizard dashes into the nearest crevice. He’s not worried—he just grows another tail!

It doesn’t hurt the lizard at all to have a tail cut off, but other animals do not find it as easy to get away. Trappers sometimes use huge steel-jaw traps designed to grip the unwary victim with an unbreakable hold. But sometimes, instead of a terrified creature, the trapper finds only an abandoned paw. A fox will actually chew off its own foot to escape!
