Do you ever struggle to choose between what you want to do and what you ought to do? It’s not just a child’s problem, is it? Interestingly, just as child training is all about choices, so the Bible’s message to us adults is about choices too. That’s because all of us—both children and parents—are caught in an ongoing battle between good and evil in our world. Here’s how we can explain this to our children.
In the beginning, Adam and Eve were created to reflect God’s unselfish, loving nature. They were capable of knowing God as their Father and they loved to obey Him. But love and obedience have always been freewill choices, which means that humans, big and small, have the option of not respecting and obeying God.
