Focus on Things Above

Last Generation // April 10, 2020

This past week, we received a message from one of our young readers all the way in Africa!

We thought we'd share it with you as an idea of what young people can do while schools are closed and they are spending a lot of time at home.

Do you want to make your time count? After you are done with online classes and chores around the house, then what?

Here are some useful tips from this teenager's story!

“I’m Rorisang, a 14-year old girl. I live in a small mining town called Selebi Phikwe in Botswana. Reading is one of my hobbies, and Last Generation magazine is something I read constantly.

I don’t exactly remember when I started reading the magazine, but I must have been about 9 or so because I started reading at a young age.

I should say that Last Generation magazine is meant for both the young and old, and it's the kind of reading material young people should be reading instead of fiction and books filled with fantasy.

There's one article that I especially loved. It was titled, “A Sound Mind.” It is found in issue number 15.2, called Trashing our Minds. It covered the effects of music on today’s generation.

This stood out to me because music is a huge part of my life. I know it has played a big role in my life because music changes the way you see the world and influences character development. A quote from the article said, "If we are concerned about our characters, we should want to know how music shapes them."

So, I want to say to the youth out there; we should focus on things above, and not let the music of this world captivate our love for God. Let’s continue reading material like the Bible and Last Generation.

I’ve learned so much from the magazines that I could write a book about it all!

I’d like to thank the Last Generation magazine team for their effort in doing God's work and for touching many people's lives through this ministry.

May God continue to bless you! Much love all the way from Africa,

                                                - Rorisang Ogaufi Cheshe Lekwapa"

We would also like to say a big thank you to those who give to our free literature fund. It is because of your generous gifts that we can send magazines to places like Africa. God is partnering with your gift to impact the lives of both young and old in different parts of the world. Rorisang’s story is just one of the many stories you will hear in heaven of the countless lives that were touched just because you gave!
