When I was ten years old, I decided to be baptized. Despite a godly upbringing in a truly devout Christian home, it was not love for God or His love for me that dragged me down the aisle to do this. It was raw and naked fear.
I knew that someday my final destination would be either heaven or hell. By hell, I mean the traditional view of hell that included conscious, unending torment. The very thought of hell sent chills racing down my spine. As the invitation song played, I pushed my way to the front and blurted out, “I do not want to go to hell. I want God to forgive my sins. I want to be baptized.”
