War slays millions, leaving weeping widows and orphans. Crime costs billions of dollars and fills the hearts of multitudes with fear. The wreckage of broken homes piles up on the rocks of human selfishness.
What is the root cause of all these problems? Sin! “Sin is the transgression of the law.” 1 John 3:4. And until someone solves the sin problem, crime, broken hearts, war, and suffering will continue.
Yes, sin is humankind’s great problem, but it is also God’s great problem. Why should it be such a problem for Him to get rid of sin? Why not burn it up—the sooner the better! God would like to destroy it at once, but many of those He loves are infected with the deadly virus. The only solution which can satisfy God’s heart of infinite love must separate sin from sinners.
