“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12.
But the Jews hated Christ’s teachings because He exposed the secrets of their hearts and reproved their sins. “This is the condemnation,” said Christ, “that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.” John 3:19. The Jews rejected Christ until their eyes were so blinded by moral darkness that they thought they were doing God service in crucifying His Son, sent unto them to be a messenger of light and hope.
Very many are in danger of a similar deception. God does not compel people to believe. He sets light before them, and Satan presents his darkness. While the deceiver is constantly crying, “Light is here,
