“Look at this wire. Do you know why we put this up?” asked Mr. Weiss as he pointed towards the thin metal wire hanging directly above us by the pool at his home.
“Well, for the purpose of drying clothes!” I replied without hesitation.
He gave a hearty laugh. “Look harder! See those creatures up there? It’s specially made for them.”
Sure enough, there were a few dragonflies resting on the wire, soaking up the warmth of the sun.
“We have a large pool and our house is situated right by a stagnant lake, but we experience no mosquitoes—thanks to these guys! You’ll see more dragonflies when evening approaches. They like hanging out here on this wire,” Mr. Weiss explained.
Intrigued, I decided to do a little research on these creatures. It turns out Mr. Weiss was right. Living up to the name of their
